Line-of-sight models

Spacemetric’s solutions are based on line-of-sight models. An explicit mathematical formulation defines the image capture process by describing the relationship between individual pixels as imaged by the sensor’s detector array and their location on the Earth.

Geometric accuracy performance

Spacemetric's software has achieved unsurpassed geometric accuracy in operational environments for many years.

Model parameter adjustment

The parameters of the line-of-sight model can be adjusted to fit a set of ground control points (GCPs). Tools for marking the position of a GCP in the satellite image include both manual and automatic methods using image chip correlation.

Automatic model adjustment to reference data sets

The measurement of GCPs can be automated if suitable reference datasets are available in the form of georeferenced imagery covering the scene area. The reference images need an accuracy as good as or better than the desired target accuracy and at least one similar spectral band.

Orthorectification

The steps involved when the line-of-sight geometric model established for an image is used in orthorectification.
